Team Member Agreement

Being an Impact Ethiopia Ministries short-term team member is a privilege and a responsibility. Together with my team, Team Leader, our host missionaries, and Impact Ethiopia Ministries, we commit to the following:

  1. Our Team Leader and our host missionaries are our authorities and guides. We will learn from them, listen to them, follow their example of service, love, and cultural awareness. When they set boundaries, we will respect them.
  2. Our team members will respect, love one another and put each other’s needs above our own. We will set respectful, culturally appropriate boundaries in how we dress, speak , and act towards one another, considering the standards of modesty, caution, and integrity. We will always defer to our Team Leader and our Host Missionaries in these matters.
  3. As a general rule we agree to set aside personal preferences and abstain from all forms of alcohol and tobacco use. We recognize that this may vary by context so we commit to following our Team Leader’s guidance and obeying all applicable laws.
  4. The costs of this trip are ours to bear. We have planned ahead and are prepared for our needs.
  5. We recognize that any funds given through Impact Ethiopia Ministries for this trip are considered donations to Impact Ethiopia Ministries. While in some cases they may be returned as a donation to the sending church, we do not expect ministry refunds to be returned to individuals. This is separate from individual spending money.

Passport- A United States Passport is your key to international travel. When presented abroad, it is a request to foreign governments to permit you to travel or temporarily reside in their territories and access all lawful, local aid and protections. It allows you access to U.S. Consular services and assistance while abroad. Most importantly, it allows you to re-enter the United States upon your return home. You can find more information about how to obtain your passport at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html.

Visa- It’s important for all United States citizens to check with the state department or visa service to make sure you have all the documentation needed to enter into a foreign country. http://world-visa.com

Your can pre-purchase your visa to come into Ethiopia and speed up your entry time at https://www.ethiopiaevisa.com.

Travel Warnings- Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted conditions that make a country dangerous or unstable lead the State Department to recommend that all Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that country. A travel Warning is also issued when the U.S. Government’s ability to assist American citizens is constrained due to the closure of an embassy or consulate or because of a drawdown of its staff. Please click for a list of countries listed that meet those criteria. http://travel.state.gov
